Medical Assistant - PRN

About the role

Aoncology is hiring a PRN Medical Assistant at its Messino Cancer Centers location. The role supports physicians with medical procedures in the office and covers phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance. Pay range is $15.83 - $24.37.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality control before patient testing, draw blood, run blood work and handle specimens according to laboratory procedures
• Prepare blood or bone marrow slides, send specimens to outside labs and maintain test and quality control logs and equipment records
• Follow the AON patient ID policy, obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level and PHQ9 screening, and place patients in the exam room
• Receive lab reports and document them in the patient chart or EMR, and assist physicians with procedures such as bone marrow, fine needle aspiration, paracentesis and pelvic exams
• Schedule outside testing, referrals and hospital admissions, and document all testing and treatment thoroughly
• Maintain supply inventory, order supplies, troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and perform EKG testing where applicable
• Keep the laboratory compliant with state and federal regulations, take the required annual CEUs, and train new employees
• Work at any AON location and work overtime when given sufficient notice

Required profile

• High school or GED; certification or license as required by the state of employment
• Valid driver's license and a vehicle for travel between clinic locations
• At least one year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office, including venipuncture
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work remotely when required

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EMR software
• Good command of English; second language is an asset
