Medical Assistant - Oncology Clinic

About the role

Aoncology is hiring a Medical Assistant for its Vista Oncology clinic. The role supports physicians with medical procedures and laboratory work, including phlebotomy, blood tests and quality control. Pay is $20.87-$29.02, with a $1,500 sign-on bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, blood draws and laboratory blood work, following quality control procedures and specimen-handling protocols
• Prepare blood or bone marrow slides, send specimens to outside labs and maintain test and quality-control logs
• Obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level and PHQ9 depression screening, place patients in the exam room and document in the EMR
• Assist physicians with procedures such as bone marrow aspiration, fine needle aspirate, paracentesis and pelvic exams
• Schedule outside testing, referrals and hospital admissions, obtain scan results and CDs, and document lab reports
• Maintain supply inventory, troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and perform EKG testing where applicable
• Keep the laboratory compliant with state and federal regulations, protect patient confidentiality and train new employees

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office, including venipuncture
• State certification or license as required, and a valid driver's license
• Willingness to work at any AON location and occasional overtime

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EMR software
• Detailed, accurate and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
