About the role
The Department of Orthopedics at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant II to provide direct patient care and support medical providers in a busy outpatient setting.
Key responsibilities
- Assist physicians and other providers with clinical procedures and patient examinations.
- Deliver hands‑on patient care while adhering to regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and evidence‑based standards.
- Monitor and document quality of care, recognize and respond to emergencies, and maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Collaborate closely with the nurse manager, charge nurse, and unit designee to ensure coordinated delivery of services.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members, prioritizing multiple requests and tasks efficiently.
- Participate in unit meetings, training sessions, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent care and respect patients’ spiritual beliefs.
- Professionalism, ethical conduct, and adherence to legal standards of practice.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Willingness to seek assistance when needed and contribute to a positive team morale.
