Medical Assistant Certified/Registered – Medical Oncology (Full‑Time Days)

About the role

The Cancer Center at Central Harnett Hospital is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant to support the Medical Oncology team on a full‑time, days‑only schedule. The role combines clinical assistance with administrative duties to ensure smooth patient flow and high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and record patient vital signs, update charts, and maintain accurate visit documentation.
• Collect and process point‑of‑care, laboratory, and pathology samples according to CFVH policy.
• Perform quality and safety checks on waived testing equipment and supplies.
• Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies under physician orders.
• Assist providers during procedures, set up equipment, and act as a chaperone when needed.
• Handle reusable instruments for sterilization and dispose of biohazard/pharmaceutical waste per OSHA and CFVH guidelines.
• Maintain a clean patient environment following infection‑prevention standards.
• Provide front‑desk reception, schedule appointments, and support billing with ICD and CPT coding.
• Coordinate with external partners such as home health, hospice, DME companies, and community paramedics.

Required profile

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a minimum of 12 months of experience.
• Entry‑level qualification acceptable; ability to work under supervision of licensed medical staff.
• Strong understanding of patient confidentiality, rights, and well‑being.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards, including JCAHO and OSHA.
