Medical Assistant 2 – Full Time

About the role

The Medical Assistant 2 provides hands‑on patient care and supports medical providers in a university‑based health system. Working under direct supervision of a licensed physician, the role ensures quality, safety and culturally competent care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with supplies and instruments, assist providers during physical examinations.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and document findings in patient records.
• Maintain sterile technique, clean and sterilize instruments, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete laboratory forms, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Adhere to HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification or license as required by department.
• Minimum two years of relevant medical assistant experience.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork orientation and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in vital signs measurement, EKG, and phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of medical and surgical asepsis and sterile technique.
• Ability to use electronic health record systems for documentation.
• Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory compliance requirements.
