Media Relations Director

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear micro‑reactors, is seeking a Media Relations Director to own and expand its external media presence. You will be the primary liaison between the company and journalists, podcasters and newsletter editors, ensuring that every milestone receives the right coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Drive media coverage across top‑tier outlets, podcasts, shows and newsletters covering defense, technology, business, government and energy.
• Build and maintain relationships with reporters, podcasters and editors at target publications.
• Identify and cultivate new media channels and online publications that reach Radiant’s audiences.
• Coordinate investor amplification for milestone announcements, managing embargoes and draft posts.
• Support executive communications: develop talking points, prepare executives for interviews and align spokespeople with appropriate audiences.
• Monitor the media landscape, competitors and industry trends.
• Manage crisis communications when the company or nuclear industry faces negative coverage.
• Track and report media metrics such as coverage volume, sentiment, share of voice and amplification reach.

Required profile

• 8 + years of experience in media relations, communications or public relations, preferably in technology, energy, aerospace or defense.
• Proven track record booking executives on broadcast and top‑tier podcasts and securing feature coverage in leading publications.
• Existing relationships with journalists, podcasters or media gatekeepers, or demonstrated ability to build them.
• Experience preparing spokespeople for high‑stakes media appearances.
• Strong understanding of the evolving new‑media landscape.
