Mechanical Engineering Intern

About the role

Stryker is looking for a Mechanical Engineering intern working onsite in Massachusetts. The intern contributes to meaningful projects, gains exposure to mentors and joins an innovative, teamwork-driven culture. The intern is placed in one of three teams: Research & Development (New Product Development), Product Engineering or Test Lab.

Key responsibilities

• New Product Development: work with cross-functional teams to identify the needs and goals of future products, research new technologies, customer expectations, business requirements and regulations, and use CAD, FEA and test labs to turn product concepts into production.
• Product Engineering: work with cross-functional teams to improve current products, using CAD, FEA, test labs and root cause analysis to improve safety and efficacy.
• Test Lab: partner with Test Engineers and R&D to test early prototypes, build fixtures that simulate real-life conditions and perform design verification testing of technical specifications.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field, remaining enrolled after the internship.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, verified at hire.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without needing sponsorship now or in the future.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving and organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Interest in learning in a dynamic environment

• $20 minimum to $35 maximum hourly wage
