Mechanical Engineer – Product Development (Waltham, MA)

About the role

Acorn Product Development is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Waltham, MA office. You will work on cutting‑edge electromechanical products, collaborating with clients, designers, and vendors to bring concepts to production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients to define requirements and develop product solutions.
• Create detailed designs and documentation that meet project objectives.
• Perform mechanical engineering analyses such as tolerance, strength, heat transfer, and vibration.
• Work with ID/UX teams to refine product designs.
• Interface with vendors for prototyping, tooling, and production.
• Test and evaluate prototypes, tooling, and first‑article parts.
• Prepare project and technical reports.
• Continuously expand technical knowledge and manage project activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) with 3+ years of design and analysis experience.
• Proven experience moving a complex electromechanical product from concept to production.
• Knowledge of molded, sheet‑metal, and machined component design.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and familiarity with regulatory and certification processes.
• Hands‑on shop/lab skills; project‑management experience is a plus.
