Mechanical Engineer-In-Training (EIT) - HVAC

About the role

Alliance Group is seeking an entry-level, full-time Mechanical Engineer / HVAC Engineer / Draftsperson based in Essex Junction, VT. The role combines supporting the design and development of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with creating technical drawings and plans in CAD software. It suits recent graduates or people with a background in HVAC, engineering or drafting who want to learn within a growing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and analyzing HVAC systems so they meet client needs and industry standards.
• Work with senior engineers to evaluate system performance, energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare HVAC layouts, schematics and other technical drawings in AutoCAD, Revit or similar CAD software.
• Review and revise HVAC plans and drawings for accuracy, clarity and compliance with building codes.
• Integrate HVAC systems into overall building designs with project managers, engineers and architects.
• Take part in design meetings and review contractor submittals, coordinating with vendors and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, building codes and industry standards.
• U.S. citizenship or a current, valid U.S. work permit; a valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to maintain a company vehicle.
• Background verification and motor vehicle check required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit or similar).
• Knowledge of the Build-Ops platform desired.
• Strong written and oral communication, teamwork, problem-solving and attention to detail.
