Mechanical Engineer, Factory Automation

About the role

We’re hiring driven Mechanical Engineers to join our factory automation team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and commissioning automated robotic cells that support our advanced manufacturing process. Some software/scripting or PLC/controls capability is preferred, but the position is primarily a practical mechanical engineering role.

Key responsibilities

• Design gantries and end effectors in Fusion 360.
• Analyze end‑effector behavior from video recordings and revise geometry to improve reliability.
• Conceive novel mechanical systems to handle electronics parts.
• Install, commission and debug robots.
• Prototype and deploy a new test robot for in‑line PCB validation.
• Travel to the UK to brief R&D teams and shape roadmap priorities.

Required profile

• Diagnose system‑wide failures from first principles.
• Prototype mechanical and software fixes on the fly.
• Work autonomously and communicate clearly to a remote team.
• Take full responsibility for uptime and performance in live production.

Required skills

• SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360 for mechanical design.
• Beckhoff TwinCAT for industrial PLC integration.
• Python for control and automation.
