Mechanical Engineer – Data Center Cooling

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop and maintain new and existing products for high‑density and liquid‑cooled data center applications. Working onsite at Vertiv’s Ironton, OH facility, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electrical controls, thermal, and manufacturing groups.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily support to manufacturing operations, ensuring smooth product flow on the production line.
• Create and modify mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings using Creo and/or Solid Edge.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials and unit configurator logic based on customer options.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Service, and Quality teams to meet design requirements.
• Support prototype builds, gather feedback from field trials, and implement product improvements.
• Assist in troubleshooting escalated field issues and suggest design enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design and analysis experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, safety standards, and product development processes.
• Experience working in cross‑functional global development teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably Creo 10.0+ and Solid Edge.
• Sheet‑metal, piping, and assembly design experience.
• Creation and revision of Bills of Materials.
• Familiarity with change‑order management and data‑entry systems such as Oracle and Agile.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and methodical problem‑solving.
