Mechanical Engineer - CNC Accessories

About the role

MP Systems, an OEM manufacturer of CNC accessories such as high-pressure coolant systems, chillers, filtration and mist collection, is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Enfield, Connecticut. The position is 100% on site and requires travel to customers locally and nationally for field installations and service, with occasional overnight trips.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose machine failures and root causes across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, and resolve component issues
• Research and develop new products and manage projects through design, prototype and manufacturing
• Create design changes based on field root cause analyses and improve existing products
• Build electrical and mechanical systems including 3-phase power, low-voltage controls, motor controls, PLC, hydraulics, filtration, refrigeration and sheet metal fabrication
• Mentor junior engineers and provide live technical support by phone and email
• Create and maintain product documentation and design change documentation

Required profile

• B.S. or higher in engineering, physics or equivalent work experience including trade skills
• Ability to diagnose failures, identify root causes and solve problems
• Project management skills and strong customer service and listening skills
• Ability to read and create drawings, schematics and models with CAD software
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance and work in industrial environments; safety-sensitive role

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
• PLC programming and ladder logic
• CAD software

• Salary range of $78,000 to $150,000 annually
