Mechanical Engineer – Autonomous Drone Systems

About the role

XTEND Tampa is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the development, integration, and production of autonomous drone systems. The role offers hands‑on experience across prototype development, system integration, and manufacturing support.

Key responsibilities

• Design and integrate mechanical components such as airframes, payload mounts, and structural assemblies.
• Build and evaluate prototype systems, enabling rapid design iterations.
• Provide on‑site engineering support to manufacturing teams during assembly and integration.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and reliability.
• Support environmental, structural, and system integration testing.
• Investigate mechanical failures and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Create engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and integration procedures.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 0–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, robotics, aerospace, or product development.
• Hands‑on experience working directly with hardware and prototypes.
• Ability to generate and interpret engineering drawings.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools).
• Mechanical design principles and tolerance analysis.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) concepts.
