Mathematics Tutor (part‑time)

About the role

LSU Eunice is seeking a part‑time Mathematics Tutor to support students in the mathematics laboratory and modular classroom. The position runs Monday‑Friday, 2:30 PM‑4:30 PM, with the possibility of up to 10 additional hours per week based on availability and departmental needs.

Key responsibilities

• Tutor students enrolled in Pre‑Algebra, Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, or Applied College Algebra.
• Assist students with signing in/out of the lab and using online platforms such as myLSUE, myCourses, MyMathLab, and other course software.
• Maintain academic integrity during assessments, provide passwords, and oversee a welcoming learning environment.
• Oversee day‑to‑day laboratory operations, troubleshoot technical issues, and manage equipment.
• Schedule operating hours, train and supervise student assistants, and track usage data.
• Communicate with the Dean of the Division of Sciences and Mathematics regarding workload and potential problems.

Required profile

• Degree in Mathematics or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience working with high‑school or higher‑education students.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, bend, and sit beside students as needed.
• Strong listening skills to understand student questions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MyMathLab and other online course platforms.
• Basic computer operation skills.
