Materials & Process Engineer – Aerospace

About the role

SyberJet is seeking an experienced Materials & Process Engineer to support legacy aircraft programs and a new cabin interior project. The role focuses on evaluating materials, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring compliance with FAA certification requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assess current airframe materials for obsolescence, cost‑reduction, and performance improvements.
• Compare existing and alternative manufacturing processes, evaluating strength, durability, fatigue life, and other critical parameters.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Develop and maintain processes such as machining, forming, welding, heat treatment, chemical milling, and composite fabrication.
• Create detailed process specifications, work instructions, and quality‑control procedures.
• Investigate material failures using root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize material usage, weight, and production costs.
• Provide materials expertise during design reviews and support design changes.
• Maintain documentation for material specifications, testing, and process controls to support FAA certification.
• Stay current with evolving regulations and industry standards.
• Manage materials databases and perform FEA and statistical analyses.
• Drive lean manufacturing and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace material properties, testing methods, corrosion testing, and environmental testing.
