Materials Control Specialist

About the role

Materials Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of inventory across assigned distribution centers and local branches. The role involves overseeing receiving administration, cycle counts, inventory optimization, and supporting manufacturing order processes while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily cycle counts, report progress, and implement corrective actions for inventory discrepancies.
• Support physical inventory counts at local branches and manufacturer‑representative stocking warehouses.
• Review stocked‑out and excess inventory to identify redistribution or scrapping opportunities.
• Evaluate customer returns for reasonableness and saleable condition.
• Manage special inventory requests and inspections directed by Engineering and Quality teams.
• Assist sales in resolving urgent back‑order issues through alternative inventory solutions.
• Review and release manufacturing orders, issue delivery orders for bill‑of‑material shortages, and support build‑to‑stock needs.
• Identify and develop process improvements, new tools, and efficiency enhancements.

Required profile

• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and research abilities.
• Demonstrated project‑management experience with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Experience with ASC‑ES Warehouse Management System; Infor M3 experience is a plus.
• Background in inventory management and industrial warehouse operations; forklift certification is helpful.
