Material Control Specialist

About the role

The Material Control Specialist will support the distribution center by ensuring inventory accuracy, managing cycle counts, and optimizing stock levels. This role contributes directly to achieving organizational goals through effective material control.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily cycle count execution, report progress, and implement corrective actions for discrepancies.
• Support physical inventory counts, review and resolve zero‑pick discrepancies, and manage receiving administration and OS&D reporting.
• Optimize inventory by reviewing stocked‑out and excess items, and support scrapping programs.
• Evaluate customer returns for reasonableness and condition, and manage special inventory inspection requests.
• Assist sales with inventory issue resolution and continuously improve tools and processes.
• Review, release, and issue manufacturing orders, handling bill‑of‑material shortages and build‑to‑stock needs.

• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and self‑motivation with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Experience with ASC‑ES Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Infor M3 (preferred).
• Inventory management experience.
• Industrial warehouse experience; forklift certification helpful.
