About the role
The Marine Interdiction Agent (MIA) position is a full‑time federal law‑enforcement role within Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Agents protect the nation’s maritime borders, interdict illegal activity, and ensure the safe flow of lawful trade and travel.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct maritime interdiction operations to detect, deter, and apprehend illegal activities on U.S. waters.
- Collaborate with an elite team of trained professionals to protect national security and public safety.
- Maintain situational awareness and enforce federal laws while operating vessels and related equipment.
- Complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) curriculum and ongoing specialized training.
- Document investigations, prepare reports, and testify in legal proceedings as required.
Required profile
- Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or equivalent maritime certification.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for federal employment.
- Willingness to serve a minimum one‑year agreement after FLETC graduation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
- Physical fitness to meet law‑enforcement standards.
