About the role

The United States Marine Corps is seeking qualified attorneys to serve as Judge Advocates. As a Marine Judge Advocate you will be commissioned as an officer and provide legal support to one of the nation’s most elite fighting forces.

Key responsibilities

• Criminal Litigation: Represent the United States or United States Marines in federal court and administrative proceedings.
• In‑House Counsel: Advise military leadership on litigation, government ethics, operational law, internal investigations, government relations, and administrative matters.
• Legal Assistance: Provide legal services to Marines, Sailors, and their families in areas such as estate planning, landlord‑tenant disputes, and family law.
• Operational and International Law: Deploy with operational units, offering real‑time legal advice on rules of engagement, the law of armed conflict, and international agreements.

Required profile

• Accepted to, or currently attending, an accredited law school (J.D.).
• Competitive physical fitness standards.
• Admission to a State Bar or eligibility to sit for the Bar Exam.
• Score above required thresholds on mental aptitude tests (e.g., >1000 SAT, 22 ACT, 74 ASVAB, and LSAT).
