Manufacturing Engineer – Raptor Combustion Devices Machining

About the role

SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead machining processes for Raptor combustion devices. You will design, scale, and optimize production of critical engine components such as valves, turbopumps, thrust chambers, and injectors.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and implement machining processes that meet cost, quality, and production targets.
• Collaborate with design engineers, machinists, technicians, and quality teams to ensure robust processes.
• Drive design‑for‑manufacturing updates and manage change integration into production.
• Implement lights‑out machining controls and reduce in‑cycle intervention using advanced programming strategies.
• Own part‑family quality, apply statistical process control (SPC), and develop capability tools.
• Oversee the full machining workflow: fixture design, CAM programming, tool selection, and inspection.
• Support timely delivery of hardware and manage multiple product introductions or revisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field (Master's preferred).
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment (internship or student project qualifies).
• Ability to work on several projects in parallel in a fast‑paced environment.
