Manufacturing Engineer – Major Assembly

About the role

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the major assembly line for a primary satellite subsystem at our high‑volume facility in Midland, Texas. The role covers the full lifecycle of flight hardware and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, from design and prototyping through testing, production rollout and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify bottlenecks, reduce waste and apply Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methods to boost productivity.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, install and upgrade manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Create and maintain technical documentation such as SOPs, CAD drawings, routings and time studies.
• Monitor system performance, implement updates and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (development, IT) to deliver technical solutions.
• Ensure products meet specifications, define quality standards and conduct root‑cause analysis for defects.
• Lead projects, manage budgets and support new product launches from prototype to full‑scale assembly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in lean manufacturing, preferably in aerospace or automotive.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and engage hands‑on with hardware.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (preferred) and Vault for CAD documentation.
• Workshop tools including 3D printing, CNC machining, hand tools and soldering.
• Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) and Kaizen methodologies.
• Project and schedule tracking/documentation tools.
