Motorhand – Rig Based Heavy Duty Position

About the role

The Motorhand works on a drilling rig to monitor equipment condition, carry out maintenance and repairs, and support drilling operations under the direction of the Driller and Rig Manager. This is a heavy‑duty, rig‑based position that requires physical stamina and technical competence.

Key responsibilities

• Take regular readings of rig equipment and record them as directed.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on rig machinery.
• Communicate maintenance needs and coordinate third‑party or field‑service assistance.
• Monitor spare‑part and lubricant inventory and report discrepancies.
• Operate pipe‑handling equipment during drilling and tripping operations.
• Maintain housekeeping standards on the rig floor, offices, and accommodations.
• Report incidents, equipment failures, and abnormalities following company procedures.
• Participate in pre‑tour and pre‑task meetings and mentor aspiring Floorhands.

Required profile

• Successful completion of pre‑hire physical assessment and drug screening.
• Ability to climb and work at heights up to 175 feet.
• Forklift certification.
• Completion of all required company training.
• Mathematical ability for equipment hour calculations, liquid usage, and spare‑part inventory.
• Computer proficiency for data entry into the maintenance database.
