Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Amerex Corporation, a manufacturer of hand portable and wheeled extinguishers and fire suppression systems, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Trussville. The engineer leads projects that improve safety, productivity and process performance, improving existing equipment and production processes and introducing new machinery or technologies when needed, while identifying and resolving production bottlenecks.

Key responsibilities

• Support production by developing, designing, implementing and continuously improving manufacturing tooling, processes and equipment.
• Lead and coordinate manufacturing engineering projects, including initiating, investigating, developing, designing and executing solutions through cross-functional teams.
• Provide mechanical engineering support for manufacturing and capital projects.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and technical records.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university.
• Three to five years of related engineering and project management experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and comprehend scientific and technical journals, including mechanical drawings and schematics for complex mechanical systems.
• Ability to present information to top management and hourly supervisors, and to solve technical and operational problems by analyzing data and evaluating alternatives.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, diagrams and mathematical data to support manufacturing processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Windows operating systems.
• Working knowledge of CAD software; experience creating and modifying engineering drawings and models in Autodesk Inventor is preferred.

The role is based in an office setting with occasional plant exposure, involving standard office equipment and possible moderate noise levels. Minimal travel may be required for some projects and training, and continuing education classes for computer skills are offered.
