Manufacturing Engineer – CNC & Lean Improvement

About the role

3M is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Clarkston, GA team. You will work with global 3Mers to analyze and improve CNC machining processes, drive lean initiatives, and support new product development.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing CNC machining manufacturing processes and identify improvement opportunities.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling, fixtures, and SOPs for the grind shop.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives (Lean/Kaizen) to reduce waste, cut costs, and enhance quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and other teams on new product development and qualification plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering discipline (completed prior to start).
• At least three (3) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including root‑cause analysis.
• Effective communication and teamwork across functional groups.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
