Manufacturing Engineer - Automotive Urethane Parts

About the role

Adient is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join its team at the Avanzar San Antonio facility. The role monitors and analyzes how products are made, with a focus on improving quality and reducing costs, and helps plan, run and direct chemical processing activities. It also coordinates, trains and guides line technicians in daily operations so that best practices are followed consistently.

Key responsibilities

• Establish standard operating procedures to control the variable conditions involved in producing sellable urethane parts.
• Determine the most efficient combination of material, process and machine to produce urethane parts at the lowest cost.
• Recommend changes to manufacturing methods and procedures to upgrade product quality and quantity and line efficiency.
• Coordinate with Production, Production Control, Maintenance and Industrial Engineering to meet company objectives of lowest cost and highest quality.
• Evaluate new equipment, materials and processes, prepare economic justifications for improvements and recommend changes that improve profitability.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Experience with line balancing and exposure to fast-paced manufacturing operations.

Required skills

• Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles.
• Knowledge of machine capabilities and raw material characteristics.
• Lean manufacturing training or certification is a plus; familiarity with the Toyota Production System (TPS) is a plus; background in PLCs is a plus.
