Managing Director & Head of Finance (Senior Controller)

About the role

This senior finance position combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution for a private‑equity fund. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for the integrity of portfolio financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and the overall finance organization.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end portfolio financial reporting, including monthly NAV production and oversight across complex investments and strategies.
• Lead finance compliance under the Investment Company Act, monitoring asset coverage tests, leverage limits, qualifying asset requirements and related‑party transaction rules.
• Serve as primary interface with external auditors, the Audit Committee and regulators, managing audit execution and statutory reporting obligations.
• Oversee finance and accounting operations, internal controls, financial systems and third‑party service providers, driving automation and scalability.
• Lead the valuation governance framework, partnering with investment teams and independent valuation agents to ensure disciplined, defensible marks and prepare Board and Investment Committee materials.
• Build and lead a high‑performing finance organization, strengthening technical capability, governance discipline and operational rigor.

Required profile

• 12+ years of relevant experience within private equity.
• Strong foundation in public accounting.
• CPA license preferred.
