Manager Patient Access

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Access is seeking a full‑time Manager, Patient Access to oversee business operations and ensure smooth patient entry into departmental services. This role is responsible for accurate data handling, timely registration, and guaranteeing payment for services rendered.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, train, and discipline staff while preparing performance reports.
• Manage day‑to‑day activities to ensure timely patient registration, accurate biographical and financial data entry, and proper payment collection.
• Verify insurance information and ensure correct documentation is placed on patient charts before clinic dates.
• Serve as the department expert on registration, insurance verification, and documentation guidelines.
• Maintain 24‑hour staffing levels and assist in developing the annual budget.
• Collaborate with upper management on strategy, operational initiatives, and policy development.
• Establish and assess internal controls, ensuring compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in healthcare operations or patient access.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Proven leadership, motivation, development, and training skills.
