Manager, Engineering R&D (D-TECT)

About the role

Terumo Neuro is hiring a Manager, Engineering R&D (D-TECT) in Aliso Viejo, California. The role manages people from entry level to junior level, develops and launches products, researches new ideas and manages the overall design history, combining theoretical and practical solution development through the scientific process and project management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a group of people of varying technical experience on projects of defined scope and diversity, directing them toward clear company objectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with associates in R&D, Operations, Quality and Regulatory Affairs to achieve company objectives and resolve project issues.
• Independently manage multiple large-scale or smaller projects and timelines using established project management methodology, and communicate status and issues clearly and on time.
• Analyze or direct the analysis of research data and proposed product specifications to assess feasibility, and specify or direct the specification and testing of new materials and designs.
• Work with departments and outside services to prepare design modifications and clarify problems, and plan quality system documentation, specifications and detailed drawings.
• Comply with laws and regulations, follow Quality Management System processes and demonstrate ethics and integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field (Mechanical, Bioengineering, Electrical, Physics, Chemistry, etc.).
• Minimum six years of relevant work experience in the medical device industry.
• Minimum one year of management experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Desired: advanced degree, ten years of medical device experience and two years of management experience, plus experience designing products for endovascular procedures.

Required skills

• Knowledge of and ability to use design/engineering and management software and equipment.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams and SolidWorks.

The salary range is $135,529 - $177,881, depending on experience, education, location and market conditions. Physical demands include extended computer use, sitting or standing and light lifting up to 25 lbs; radiation exposure may occur in environments such as cath labs.
