Manager, Business Tax Services – Employee Benefits Compliance

About the role

KPMG is seeking a Manager for its Business Tax Services practice to lead employee benefits compliance work. You will oversee a team delivering Form 5500 and related filings for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage associates in preparing, reviewing, and electronically filing Form 5500s and related forms (8955-SSA, 720, 5330).
• Oversee data gathering, analysis, and interpretation to ensure accuracy and compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.
• Act as primary contact for internal service lines, external clients, and auditors.
• Manage engagement risk, financial performance, billing, collections, and project budgets.
• Monitor evolving compliance requirements for Form 5500 filers.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of recent experience in employee benefit plan compliance, tax, or audit, with at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree; CPA, JD/LLM, EA, or other approved credential (or obtain within one year of hire).
• Deep understanding of ERISA and IRS regulations related to employee benefit plans.
• Proven leadership, project management, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
