Manager, Building Facilities

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Medical Campus is seeking a full‑time Manager, Building Facilities to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of its campus buildings. You will lead a diverse team of tradespeople, ensure 24/7 operational efficiency, and maintain a safe, reliable environment for students, staff, and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise plumbers, carpenters, electricians, HVAC technicians and other maintenance personnel.
• Ensure work assignments are completed promptly, professionally, and in compliance with safety regulations.
• Gather and act on customer‑satisfaction feedback for facilities services.
• Address employee relations or performance issues with HR support.
• Review, analyze and resolve reports, invoices, and budgetary data.
• Maintain labor, material, contractor and outsourced‑function budgets, recommending optimizations.
• Provide adequate staffing for holidays, disaster preparation, recovery and special university events.
• Confirm accurate and timely completion of time cards.
• Establish and assess internal controls, ensuring compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of relevant facilities‑management experience.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, plan, delegate and evaluate department operations.
• Proven leadership, motivation and training capabilities.
