Manager, Accounting (Record to Report)

About the role

The Manager, Accounting position sits in the Record to Report (RtR) team of the Global Business Services (GBS) Shared Service Centre. The team provides financial controllership for five Thermo Fisher Scientific groups (Clinical Research, Life Science Solutions, Laboratory Products, Special Diagnostics and Analytical Instruments) covering more than $10 billion in annual revenue. The role reports to the Senior Manager RtR, oversees the Financial Accounting team of six people and ensures the accuracy of financial records for several North American entities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the timeliness and accuracy of US GAAP financial reporting for the AIG North America region.
• Mentor, coach and develop the finance team while driving a performance-first, customer-first culture.
• Act as main point of contact for project and initiative questions from business and customers, working with other finance departments.
• Facilitate monthly business reviews and conduct detailed balance sheet analysis, communicating findings to collaborators.
• Ensure financial compliance and SOX controls are completed without exception.
• Deliver operational excellence and lead a PPI culture, taking accountability for projects that feed into annual productivity targets.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CPA or equivalent professional qualification, or equivalent relevant experience).
• At least 6 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or people management role.
• Demonstrated people management experience; ability to lead, develop and support team members.
• Proven ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple complex priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous knowledge or experience with AIG preferred but not essential.
