Maintenance Technician Level I

About the role

Dot Foods Inc., a family-owned and operated company since 1960, is hiring a Maintenance Technician Level I in Bear, Delaware. The position keeps the facility looking good and all equipment running, covering preventive maintenance and repairs, facility improvements, lot maintenance, painting, plumbing, carpentry and fabrication. It is a night shift with temperatures ranging from -10 degrees in the freezer to 100+ outside in summer.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the facility, including painting, masonry, carpentry and plumbing
• Perform basic electrical work and help experienced technicians with more complex tasks
• Carry out preventive maintenance
• Track repairs, labor, time and parts used for work orders
• Help troubleshoot and repair warehouse and material handling equipment
• Maintain the grounds, including irrigation and snow removal, and handle industrial battery watering and maintenance
• Take part in periodic internal and external audits and travel occasionally for training or meetings
• Apply lean thinking to identify and eliminate waste

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Able to access all areas of the facility, lift and carry at least 50 lbs, and stand or walk extensively on concrete floors and work at heights
• Sufficient vision and hearing to operate powered equipment safely
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, computer literacy and mechanical aptitude
• Commitment to safe work practices; previous experience and familiarity with warehouse equipment are a plus
