Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician ensures the safe and efficient operation of hospital facilities by performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety inspections. This role supports patient care environments by keeping equipment and building systems functional and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and troubleshooting in assigned areas, documenting and fixing unreported discrepancies.
• Conduct daily preventive maintenance inspections, including electrical safety checks in patient rooms and on non‑patient equipment.
• Investigate maintenance requests, applying sound judgment before escalating to other trades.
• Monitor work performed by other crafts to ensure completion and compliance.
• Enter supply rooms on nursing units as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
• Inspect fire/smoke‑rated doors and partitions for NFPA compliance and conduct routine environmental and safety rounds.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician in a corporate setting.
• Valid Class E driver’s license (Louisiana).
• Ability to work alternative/shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Proficiency with computer maintenance management software.

Required skills

• Operation of hand tools and power tools.
• Use of electrical testing equipment.
• Reading and interpreting schematic drawings and layouts.
• Computer, printer, telephone, and two‑way radio operation.
