Maintenance Technician II

About the role

The Maintenance Technician II performs routine and breakdown maintenance on processing and packaging equipment and keeps the plant running and compliant with all rules and regulations through safe repair and upkeep methods. Repairs are done as needed by the department, processes are troubleshooted, and machine setups and rebuilds are assisted. At some locations (Little Chute and Weyauwega only), the role may also manage and administer the preventive maintenance program.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular and preventative maintenance on plant, equipment and grounds in compliance with standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices and OSHA safety policies.
• Provide emergency, unscheduled repairs of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment during production.
• Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs and update and install equipment.
• Work with production supervisors, line leaders and crews to minimize downtime while maintaining quality.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders, complete and update work orders in-house systems, and stay up to date on plant processes.
• Follow safety protocols: stop unsafe acts, correct or report hazards, and support safety policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school coursework or a degree in boiler, welding, electrical or HVAC maintenance preferred.
• Minimum two years of maintenance/repair experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, adapt quickly to change and think independently.

Required skills

• Effective verbal and written communication with managers and colleagues.
• Basic math (fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra) and computer skills to input and retrieve information.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

• Starting rate of $34.56 to $36.56 depending on experience, with $1.50 per hour more on night shift (3:30 pm to 3:30 am).
