Cheddar Operator

About the role

The Cheddar Operator I at Agropur in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, packages and seals cheddar cheese into 640-pound boxes. The shift runs 4 PM to 4 AM, with double time pay on Sunday. The company states that no experience is necessary and that in-house training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Set up the area for daily production.
• Make boxes, fill and drain them according to specifications.
• Prepare boxes and place them in the vacuum chamber, operate the vacuum chambers and record information as specified.
• Pull boxes from the vacuum chambers, hang them on the rail for the specified time, then move them to the seal line for final sealing.
• Prepare box cards for sealed boxes by recipe and place each box of cheese into the pre-cooler.
• Assist other Cheddar employees as needed.
• Clean the entire 640 room after production and prepare supplies for the next day, keeping the area clean and organized.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and safety protocols, stopping unsafe acts and reporting hazards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no experience necessary.
• Lift truck license required; in-house training provided.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt quickly to a changing environment and work in a fast-paced setting.
• Basic computer skills to input and retrieve computerized information, basic math skills, and ability to follow one- or two-step verbal and written instructions.
• Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
