Maintenance Supervisor – Ammonia Refrigeration

About the role

The Maintenance Supervisor for Ammonia Refrigeration leads the daily repair, troubleshooting, and preventative‑maintenance activities of the plant’s ammonia refrigeration system. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this on‑site leader oversees a team of 10‑12 technicians and collaborates with process maintenance, production, and quality to keep the system running 24/7.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily ammonia refrigeration operations and ensure compliance with state and federal codes.
• Guide the team in troubleshooting repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and installing new equipment.
• Coordinate resources, inventory, and vendor relationships to support system reliability.
• Maintain accurate work orders, logs, and documentation for PMs, repairs, and Process Safety Management tasks.
• Promote a safety‑first mindset and keep the work environment clean and organized.
• Participate in system start‑ups, start‑ups of ice‑making equipment, and PSM activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years hands‑on experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and regulatory compliance.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical capability to lift up to 40 lb, work in confined spaces, and stand or climb for extended periods.
