Maintenance Shop Foreman

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking an experienced Maintenance Shop Foreman to lead daily shop operations at our Hagerstown, MD Service Center. The role combines hands‑on mechanical work with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring our fleet of heavy‑duty tractors, forklifts and dry‑van trailers remains reliable and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on tractors, forklifts and trailers.
• Oversee and execute major repairs, including air‑brake, clutch, diesel engine, electrical, lift‑gate and overhead‑door systems.
• Manage day‑to‑day administrative duties such as work orders, inventory tracking and tool management.
• Lead a team of mechanics, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts usage.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience maintaining tractor‑trailer combinations, forklifts and dry‑van trailers.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or lead‑mechanic role is a plus.
• Must own a complete set of personal tools.
• Ability to work full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 6 am–4:30 pm.
