Maintenance Repairer 2 – Sheet Metal & Roofing

About the role

The Maintenance Repairer 2 reports to the Maintenance Superintendent of the Sheet Metal Shop within the Facility Maintenance Department. The role focuses on roof, gutter and drainage upkeep while also providing support on carpentry, painting and other maintenance projects as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Check buildings for rain leaks, clean and repair roofs, gutters, downspouts, and roof drains.
• Assist as a sheet‑metal helper: fabricate and install roof flashing, metal roofs, gutters, awnings, conduit heads, exhaust grilles, ducts, and related components.
• Assist as a carpenter helper: repair and install floors, doors, walls, ceilings, fences, perform demolition, haul materials, and clean job sites.
• Assist as a painter/plasterer helper: perform plaster repair, demolition, material handling, and painting tasks.
• Operate heavy equipment such as large man‑lifts, scissor‑lifts, forklifts, and trucks with trailers.
• Provide guidance and support to Maintenance Repairer 1 staff when required.
• Perform emergency or additional duties as needed; position is classified as essential.

Required profile

• Two years of experience or training in building construction trades, building maintenance, mechanical equipment repair, or related fields, OR completion of a two‑year vocational program in construction, OR twelve semester hours in construction management or engineering.
• Ability to work safely with large man‑lift equipment and other heavy machinery.
• Flexibility to assist in sheet‑metal, carpentry, painting, and plastering projects.
