Maintenance Mechanic – 3rd Shift

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for its 3rd shift in Tulare. The role covers diagnosing, repairing and maintaining production and processing machinery, mechanical equipment and buildings so they operate safely and properly. It is a hands-on position involving pumps, conveyor systems, motors and computerized systems.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery, mechanical equipment and computerized systems according to diagrams, blueprints, operating manuals and manufacturer specifications.
• Observe, test and evaluate equipment to diagnose malfunctions, and disassemble and reassemble machinery to make repairs.
• Examine parts for defects, clean and lubricate parts and equipment, and test-run repaired equipment.
• Fabricate replacement parts, weld broken metal parts, order or requisition parts and materials, and repair electrical wiring and components.
• Record repairs and maintenance accurately and in a timely manner, and act as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), report unsafe conditions and food safety hazards promptly, and comply with food safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Work any shift, holidays and overtime, and cover the absence of key personnel when needed.

Required profile

• High school graduate plus at least two years of industrial maintenance experience in the dairy, food and/or beverage industry, or a combination of experience, training and education.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and process issues independently and communicate effectively with employees, visitors and vendors.
• Reliable attendance and availability for any shift, overtime or holidays.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of AC/DC power and control voltages, PLC controls, VFD drives and process instrumentation.
• Basic computer skills to service computer-controlled machinery.
• Good understanding of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair and maintenance.

Pay range: $38.34 - $45.89.
