About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic actively troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and facilities support equipment and systems. This position applies technical knowledge to maintain company assets to the highest possible standards, using hydraulic and pneumatic principles and machine‑shop tools.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, disassemble, and troubleshoot high‑speed packaging machinery and other manufacturing equipment.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair components using power and hand tools, and document work orders in Nestlé’s reporting system.
- Repair and operate material‑handling equipment such as pallet jacks, lifts, and hoists.
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and machinery manuals to diagnose problems and verify proper operation.
- Install new equipment and ensure work areas are clean and sanitary after maintenance activities.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following trades: machinist, millwright, welder, or pipe fitter.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and technical manuals; write routine reports.
- Strong mathematical ability to perform calculations, ratios, and interpret graphs.
Required skills
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system knowledge.
- Use of machine‑shop tools and power tools (saws, drills, etc.).
- Blueprint and diagram reading.
- Material‑handling equipment operation (pallet jacks, lifts, hoists).
- Fabrication, welding, and pipe‑fitting techniques.
