Maintenance Manager in Training

About the role

Equinox is seeking a motivated, dependable and hands-on Maintenance Manager in Training (MMIT) in Chicago. The role is a development program designed to prepare candidates for promotion into a Maintenance Manager position. The MMIT works closely with Maintenance Managers and club leadership to learn daily operations, safety standards, team leadership, inventory management and overall facility excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining club cleanliness and facility standards
• Learn and support daily maintenance operations and procedures
• Conduct facility walkthroughs and identify maintenance concerns
• Support locker room, laundry and facility floor operations
• Assist with inventory tracking and supply organization
• Learn scheduling, staffing support and shift management
• Ensure safety protocols and company standards are followed
• Support emergency response and facility issue resolution
• Develop management and communication skills with leadership
• Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for members and staff

Required profile

• Experience in the housekeeping department of a commercial business or fitness setting preferred
• Knowledge of maintenance of mechanical, electrical and exercise equipment
• Knowledge and experience with tools
• Knowledge and experience with janitorial cleaning products and OSHA standards
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Ability to use new techniques, solve problems, act with honesty and integrity, and show a high sense of urgency
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Legal right to work in the United States
