Machine Operator Specialist - Utility (Weekend Shift)

About the role

Clow Valve, a manufacturer of water valves and fire hydrants and a division of McWane Corporation, is hiring a Machine Operator Specialist for its utility machine shop in Oskaloosa. The position is on a weekend shift, Friday to Sunday, 5am to 5pm. Prior CNC experience is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Plan machines by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications and machining parameters.
• Set up tooling, adjust offsets and complete any required fixture setup.
• Program mills and lathes by entering instructions and load stock into the machine (overhead lifting devices may be needed).
• Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts and samples, and maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving and cutting, troubleshooting and adjusting controls.
• Maintain continuity between shifts by documenting actions, irregularities and continuing needs, and complete production and quality logs.
• Clean up the work area, follow safety procedures and wear PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses and metatarsal-guarded boots.

Required profile

• Lifting and carrying less than 50 pounds, standing more than 6 hours per day, and working in extreme temperatures and around machinery.
• Ability to gauge and measure parts using mathematics, use hand tools and do repetitive work.
• Manufacturing experience preferred; relevant machining experience preferred.
• Ability to wear PPE and to operate a forklift safely.
