Machine Operator – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the role

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Machine Operator to join its Operations team in Kinston, NC. You will work on the shop floor producing large composite aerostructures for the Airbus A350 XWB, ensuring parts meet exacting tolerances.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to manufacture components to precise dimensions.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine machining sequences, cuts, and setups.
• Use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and perform standard shop calculations for feeds, speeds, and dimensions.
• Mark, layout, and machine stock material, then fit and assemble precision parts.
• Monitor and verify product quality using statistical process control or other quality procedures.

Required profile

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience in machining.
• Ability to read and apply engineering drawings and specifications.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Required skills

• CNC and conventional machine tool operation
• Blueprint reading
• Precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• Statistical process control
