About the role
Profluent is building foundation models for biology and seeks a Machine Learning Research Engineer to advance its protein‑design platform. You will develop and scale generative models, build the supporting infrastructure, and collaborate closely with ML and protein‑design scientists.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement modular, reproducible pipelines for model fine‑tuning, alignment and evaluation.
- Develop petabyte‑scale ETL pipelines to prepare protein data for pre‑training.
- Optimize training and inference code for maximum throughput on multi‑GPU and multi‑cloud environments.
- Build tooling that enables rapid prototyping and productionisation of research ideas.
- Partner with scientists to translate prototype concepts into production‑ready systems.
Required profile
- Self‑motivated engineer comfortable owning end‑to‑end ML workflows.
- Strong focus on model quality, efficiency and reliability.
- Willingness to step beyond core responsibilities to support the team.
Required skills
- ETL pipeline development.
- GPU hardware optimisation.
- Distributed and multi‑cloud system experience.
- Hyperparameter search and model benchmarking.
