Software Engineer, Machine Learning Platform

About the role

Profluent is building foundation models that unlock new possibilities in biology, medicine, and agriculture. As a Software Engineer on the Machine Learning Platform team, you will create the tools and infrastructure that enable rapid model training, inference, and protein design workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure supporting large‑scale model training.
• Build and operate the inference stack, model APIs, and design pipelines for protein engineering.
• Collaborate with ML scientists to turn research workflows into reusable, scalable tooling.
• Partner with protein‑design scientists to standardize and automate bespoke processes.
• Identify and apply optimizations that reduce compute and storage costs.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and reliability features for production services.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background with a product‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to take ownership of projects from research through deployment.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast‑moving environment.
• Commitment to high code quality, efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Willingness to step beyond core responsibilities when needed.

Required skills

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of distributed job orchestration.
• Familiarity with building model evaluation platforms.
• Understanding of inference stack and API development.
