Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

Chefman’s CHEF iQ division is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to drive AI innovation for connected kitchen appliances. You will join a small, high‑impact team responsible for turning cutting‑edge research into real‑world cooking experiences used by millions of home cooks.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy machine‑learning and computer‑vision models that enable autonomous cooking functions.
• Develop image‑classification, object‑detection, and state‑recognition models to identify food types, cooking progress, and doneness.
• Build and manage datasets, including collection, labeling, augmentation, and validation.
• Own the full ML lifecycle—from data preparation and model training to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Research and apply emerging techniques such as generative AI, large language models (LLMs), vision‑language models (VLMs), and multimodal AI.
• Deploy and optimize models for both cloud and edge devices, balancing accuracy, latency, memory, and power consumption.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, hardware, and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into consumer appliances.
• Develop systems that fuse vision, sensor, and contextual data to deliver intelligent recommendations and autonomous actions.

Required profile

• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without employer sponsorship.
• Proven experience building and deploying machine‑learning and computer‑vision solutions.
• Ability to manage end‑to‑end model pipelines and work cross‑functionally with hardware and software teams.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and passion for bringing AI research into consumer products.
