Machine Learning Engineer, 2027 Graduate (Seattle)

About the role

Atlassian is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer for its Grad++ graduate program, a hybrid role based in Seattle, WA. The program combines hands-on technical training, professional growth, dedicated mentorship and strong social connections. The role sits in Atlassian's machine learning teams, which build ML infrastructure and intelligent product experiences with partners across Product, Engineering, Growth, GTM, Finance and Sales, covering areas such as search, recommendation, personalization, Generative AI applications and large language models. Interviews are virtual and the position is not eligible for F1/J1 students or work sponsorship.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evaluate machine learning models and Generative AI applications
• Use data, experimentation and feedback to improve model and product quality
• Translate customer and business problems into technical solutions with cross-functional partners
• Contribute across the ML lifecycle, from prototyping and evaluation to deployment and monitoring
• Develop agentic workflows that combine LLMs, tools and product context to solve complex, multi-step problems

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research or a related quantitative field, graduating by August 2027
• Experience applying machine learning through coursework, research, projects or a relevant internship
• Strong problem-solving and data-driven analytical skills
• Willingness and ability to work out of Seattle, WA

Required skills

• Experience writing reliable software in Python or Scala
• Familiarity with SQL or Spark is a plus

• Base pay for new hires depending on pay zone: Zone A $146,700-$191,525, Zone B $132,030-$172,373, Zone C $121,761-$158,966
