Loss Control Specialist

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Loss Control Specialist to lead risk management and workplace safety initiatives across state agencies. This civilian position focuses on evaluating operational risks, analyzing loss trends, and recommending practical improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate customer education and training programs.
• Assess agency operations, workplace hazards, incidents, and loss trends.
• Recommend controls to protect employees, property, and state resources.
• Improve safety and loss control policies, programs, standards, and training.
• Provide consultation, report findings, and track recommended improvements.

Required profile

• Master's degree in a related field with two years of experience, or equivalent education and experience combinations.
• Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• People management, decision‑making, negotiation, and strategic‑thinking abilities.
• Willingness to travel weekly, primarily in South Georgia.

Required skills

• Ability to analyze incidents, loss data, operational exposures, and trends.
