Linux System Engineer

About the role

Bitdeer is looking for a hands‑on Linux System Engineer to build, operate, and optimise the Linux compute and storage environment for its AI Lab in San Jose, California. The role is responsible for day‑to‑day system administration, automation, monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and performance of the lab’s workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, maintain and optimise Linux‑based servers (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat) and develop Shell scripts for automation.
• Manage storage solutions such as NetApp, Ceph and ZFS, and implement provisioning tools like Ansible, PXE and Kickstart.
• Deploy and monitor system health using Nagios, Zabbix and Prometheus, and administer workload schedulers (Openlava, Slurm).
• Apply networking and security best practices, including firewall configuration and access controls, while maintaining up‑to‑date documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 5+ years of Linux system administration experience with strong performance‑tuning skills.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
