Linux L3 Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Linux L3 Engineer to join our client’s IT team in Springfield, TX. The role focuses on advanced administration, troubleshooting, and optimisation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL 7/8/9 servers.
• Manage Satellite and Cluster servers, including configuration and support.
• Configure Kickstart servers and Identity Management solutions.
• Perform hardware server management, user and performance monitoring, and cron job administration.
• Implement configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Support VMware and other virtualization platforms.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts (bash/ksh), Perl, and Python automation.
• Lead disaster recovery and OS recovery initiatives.
• Conduct network troubleshooting, LVM management, OS patching, and repository maintenance.
• Apply security controls with SELinux, OSSEC, SSSD, LDAP, and Kerberos.
• Provision bare‑metal installations and oversee SAN migrations.
• Utilise monitoring tools such as BMC Patrol, SolarWinds, and Tivoli.
• Plan, prioritise, and meet project deadlines while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on Linux systems.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and with other groups.
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
